What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?

which method is better? What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?
Bleach will work, but I always use sodium carbonate (available from the store as Soda Crystals or Soda Ash) for a variety of reasons, not least that NaClO can react with organic matter to form haloalkanes that aren't very good for you or the environment, also chlorine bleach can (when mixed with other cleaning agents) evolve chlorine gas, which isn't good at all!

As stated above, never do this with clothes in the wash! What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?
a lot of things can kill mildew, but in this case use chlorine bleach the machine was designed for it and it take a relatively low concentration to do the job.
run a cycle with no clothes but just water and bleach. I don't get mildew but my washing machine starts to stink at times, so I do the bleach cycle and the smell goes away.
