I have a very bad mildew smell in my house which I think is comming from the washing machine or dryer.?

There is a very bad mildew smell in the house which I believe is comming from the washer and dryer.

Clothing that is washed also has this smell.

Any suggestions?I have a very bad mildew smell in my house which I think is comming from the washing machine or dryer.?
Firstly check where the smell is coming from exactly. If it is the washing machine or the dryer you need to clean them thoroughly and the area around it. I get that at the moment at the place we are living and it is from the air-conditioner. I had to clean the filter and around it and it is now almost gone. Then get an anti-bacterial spray and spray it around. I also burn incense sticks to help with any odours. Or burn any nice scented candles. I would also suggest putting a few drops of essential oils around the area to as this not only smells nice it helps. In regards to the washing and if it's the washing machine that is giving off the smell then clean it and run a wash of Epsom salts through. Check the washing powder or liquid you use and make sure it isn't lavender scented as I have found it leaves a bad smell behind. Good luck. :)I have a very bad mildew smell in my house which I think is comming from the washing machine or dryer.?
There are some disgusting things that go into a washing machine. Dirty socks, filthy underwear and soiled baby clothes can all find their way into the washing machine. Over time, you may begin to notice an odor reeking from the machine caused from a build up of residue. This is a signal that it is time to treat your washing machine in order to keep your family鈥檚 clothes fresh.

Things You鈥檒l Need:

1/2 cup of baking soda

2 cups white distilled vinegar

Step1

Decide on the source of the smell. Typically the cause is the machine itself, but occasionally the water being used in the washer can be the source of the problem. If the smell resembles rotten eggs, you may need a water filtration system installed. After you eliminate any other possibilities, you can begin the treatment process.

Step2

Create a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Add 1/2 cup of baking soda to 2 cups of white distilled vinegar.

Step3

Begin a wash cycle using the machine鈥檚 hottest setting. As the water rises, add the baking soda and vinegar mixture.

Step4

Let the washing machine complete a full cycle. If you notice any residue that has been loosened, use a cloth to wipe the surface clean.

Step5

Run a cold water cycle to complete the process. You should immediately notice that the smell has been neutralized.

Tips :

Washing your clothes on a cold water cycle can help reduce the amount of residue that builds up inside of your washing machine.

If you do not have vinegar available, lemon juice may be substituted.

Avoid using too much liquid or powder detergent in your washing machine. This can cause the washing machine to smell over time.

Empty the washer as soon as a cycle is done to avoid smelly odors. Leaving damp clothes in the machine can cause a build up of bacteria.
It probably is coming from your washer. I would suggest that you put a cup of bleach and very hot water into your washer (don't add any clothing) and wash on the longest cycle. See if that helps with the odor. If not, you should pull the washer out from the wall and check under it for any leaks or seepage that may be occuring.
pull your washer out from the wall and look for leaks, wet floor,and/or mildew. It may also be on the underside of the washer. have a friend help you tip it forward for a good look. If everything seems ok, then run the machine with bleachy water, rinse thoroughly before you do another load.
It sounds like yo have a leak. Check the walls around your washer and dryer. If they are soft you probably have a leak in the wall. It's really important to find it and seal it off. Molds and mildew can make people sick and become ';black mold'; which is dangerous and costly to remove. Good luck,
If you run a load of NO clothes and about a cup of bleach it may remove that smell. I have a front loader and it keeps some water down in the ';boot'; but I run a cup of bleach every week and it smells better.
