I have three baby dresses that were in the bottom of a hamper with a wet towel on top. Anyway, I washed it once and of course the mildew stains stayed. Then I bought some stain remover and tried again and of course it is still there. Now I finally came on here to look for solutions and saw a bunch of answers that say to use vinegar, or some say lemon and salt, but I believe those answers were for catching the mildew before you wash. This is my last try. What do you think would be the best way to get rid of these stains, since I've already washed them are they set in? Also one of them is a bright print, the other two are light pastel colored, one print, one solid. Just in case that matters. Thanks for your help. Can you remove mildew stains after clothing has already been washed twice :( ?
Believe it or not..... soak the dresses in a solution of Oxy Clean...
It got india ink that had been washed and dried into a bright colorful bathing suit, and it got rust out of a white satin dress....
It works, as long as you give it the time to do its job....
and it won't fade the color. Can you remove mildew stains after clothing has already been washed twice :( ?
use oxy clean!

Mildew/Moldy smell to clothes left in washing machine.?
I forgot about a load of laundry in the washer for 3 days. When I finally went back downstairs to do another load, the smell was aweful. I know that I could probably use baking soda, vinegar or oxiclean (but how much of the product do I use), and wash with hot water, but I want to know your experiences. There is no (visible) mold spots growing, but I can't stand the smell. Please offer any advice, thank you!
Also, my daughter has very sensitive skin, so I usually wash with the non-fragrant, hypoallergenic detergents. Should I wash these clothes again after using the baking soda, or do you think those chemicals would irritate her skin?Mildew/Moldy smell to clothes left in washing machine.?
This happened to me. I am a student and have now learnt my lesson. Put them on a high wash for as long as possible, with as much powder, confort and liquitabs as you can. Do this twice, put them on a clothes airer in a well ventilated room, then tumble dry with several bounce sheets. Then iron using vaporesse. You can do this all with the normal detergents you use. Thats how my mum fixed mine and it was literally ALL my clothes except one skirt and one top! and my clothes ad been left for over two months, not only did they reek, but they had more mould on them than mould hasMildew/Moldy smell to clothes left in washing machine.?
normal rewashing will kill the moldy smell, this time dont leave them in the washing machine.
Normal washing will not be enough.
Here is what you need to do... I promise:
Wash them again with the normal amount of detergent, and add 1 cup of ammonia to the load. Rinse twice.
They will be good as new... I promise you.
I have had this happen to me all the time. My washer is down in the basement and I forget about them until a few days later. I usually just rewash them. I did have one problem awhile back I had a storge container with some clothes in it some how they got wet.( basement leaks) when I took the lid off the smell about knocked me over from the mold, most of the clothe I had to toss in the trash and wash some a few times.
I would just try to rewash them with soap you use. good luck
I usually just throw them in the dryer and the smell is gone by the time they're dry.
Of course, I'm not sensitive to mold spores. If I was, I'd probably re-wash them and set a timer to remind me to dry 'em ASAP.
We all do this from time to time just rewash your clothes just like you normally would and everything will be right as rain this coming from someone with severe allergies herself
Best bet to get rid of smell and possible mold is to wash with a little (maybe a capful) of chlorine bleach, then wash again in your usual way.
got any baking soda? add to washer and wash again
it sounds silly, but walmart sells a product called ';damp rid'; that is exactly for this purpose! it is gentle for your daughter and i can't say enough good things about it. i make that mistake pretty often (i'm a major scatterbrain) and damp rid always works.
Dryer sheet and dry.
I have done this also.. Take a cup of White distilled vinegar and add it to the wash water...let it go through the cycle...The smell will be gone.....
wash them again
baking soda or white vineager, in wash should do it
I know this happened to me with a shirt...
I just washed it again with normal detergent, and it worked fine. I even had the visible mold spots and everything. Don't know if this is normal, but it worked for me.
It sounds like it wouldn't work, but a little white vinegar added to the wash will help. I use the hypo-allergenic/non-fragrant stuff and once I left the clothes in the wash and just added some vinegar.
It worked really well.
Still use the detergent with the vinegar.
(About 1/2 a cup of vinegar)
wash them again.
i know it happen to my wife she forgot the clothes in the washer for a couple of days and she re-washes the clothes and they were okay
The smell will never leave, throw the clothes in the garbage, or keep the clothes and tolerate the smell. Poo! Woo!

Accidentally left wet towels in the washer and now they are mildewed. Have washed several times...?
and they still stink. Is there any way to get them clean or do I have to get rid of them?Accidentally left wet towels in the washer and now they are mildewed. Have washed several times...?
All those answers are possibilities. The definite answer is, wash them again normally, but add about a half of a box of baking soda. You can add about a cup of vinegar to the final rinse. It'll make them nice and soft. But that has nothing to do with getting the mildew smell out. The towels will not smell like vinegar.Accidentally left wet towels in the washer and now they are mildewed. Have washed several times...?
I would wash with detergent and bleach and choose the soak option. I bleach my towels all the time and they never fade, although they aren't dark colored. White vinegar would work too. I would use about two cups of white vinegar, then wash with detergent. I also use two cups of white vinegar in an empty load about every two weeks. I think it helps my washing machine work better.
You may be able to soak them in a hot water and baking soda solution then rewash them. Even if that doesn't totally fix it, use them as floor mats for the next go round then when you wash again it should take care of it.
I agree with the use of vinegar. Wash them in water and vinegar then later in normal soap etc. and put them out in the sunshine or breeze, leave a little longer outside then you normally would.
Try a color-safe bleach. Otherwise, congratulations, you get to buy new towels and help our shaky economy.
try soaking them in Awesome. you can get it from the Dollar Store or Family Dollar
oxiclean works pretty well.
Try lemon juice if non of the above work.
I'd wash them on hot with a couple of cups of white vinegar. That should do the trick.
just a little bleach when washer fills up

Pressure washing home with mold and mildew.?
Need just a little bit of help.
When I pressure wash my home I just use water with no chemicals or anything like that, and it always comes out looking very nice. I do not have any mold or mildew problems. The pressure of the water on the siding is more than enough. But, I would like to do my mothers home with the same type of siding, but she has green blotches of mold and mildew bad on 2 sides. I am not thinking that water will be good enough.
Is there something that is very safe for plants that I can apply and let sit and then pressure wash as normal ? ? ???
Any advice ? I would like to make mom happy.Pressure washing home with mold and mildew.?
I use a solution of Lysol 4 in 1 solvent and water in a garden sprayer. Spray it on the siding in 20' squares and power spray it off right after. Doesn't hurt plants or animals and removes mold and bird drops. Play with the strength of the mix until the results are achieved.Pressure washing home with mold and mildew.?
I like your idea of water only.
The mold is feeding on the dirt on the siding not the siding itself.
Pressure washing is usually sufficient.
You may have to do the job every few years but poisons are not necessary.
Chlorine is one of the most poisonous chemicals in the world and breaks down into even worse compounds.
Just because something is familiar to us does not mean it is safe.
The plants and animals in the garden will like the water, I doubt they would appreciate the chlorine bleach.
I always use a bleach solution and it works great. A 1:10 ratio will be plenty strong enough and not hurt the siding. However, if she has a lot of sensitive plants at the base of the walls - they may be damaged although with the ration I noted above, it has never been a problem for me.
We used oxyclean for the same problem and it worked great and did no harm to the plants around the area.
just mix 1 cup of Clorox to a gal of water it will do the job and not harm the plants
we had same problem we used viniger and water it did the job

If you pressure wash a car's carpeted floor mat to remove road salt, how do you keep the mat from mildewing
Hang it to dry- also see if it is colorfast. If so a little bleach in the the solution kills mildew. If you pressure wash a car's carpeted floor mat to remove road salt, how do you keep the mat from mildewing
Stick in the sun light and let it dry before putting
it back in the car.If you pressure wash a car's carpeted floor mat to remove road salt, how do you keep the mat from mildewing
Suck as much of the water out with the vacuum at the car wash, or a wet/dry vac. Then place it outside to dry. Do not install it until it is completely dry. You can also clean the floor of the car with a vinegar and water solution to kill any mold that may be there already.
I take mine and let them sit in the sun on a asphalt driveway and they dry out pretty quick. Works good.
Hang it up to dry in the open air.
I'm assuming you can remove the floor mat to do this.
Let it dry in the sun before you put it back in your car. That should eliminate the opportunity for mildew to form.
Be careful, if you remove the carpet and pressure wash it then dry it the chances are it will shrink a little and not fit right.hp printer oil

wash in a weak solution of bleach and water with a little bit of washing up liquid
just buy a new one
buy a new one
i had a little dew in my shower? i packed him back off to israel?????????
omg get new ones dude.if washing it wount help what else is left u tell me.
If washing it difn't take it out. time for a new one
Soak it in a bucket of bleach and water overnight, then wash it in the machine, should come out looking like new.
There is a product sold to remove mildew from walls - from the smell it is an ultra strong bleach. It might work on fabric but it could also destroy the plastic if not diluted!
I think you should treat yourself to a new curtain and make sure you dry it properly so you don,t get this problem again.
If you are lazy the best thing is to buy a cheap curtain and replace it as and when.
Try washing it with a little bleach.
Try soaking it in the bath with a bottle of bleach.
Throw it out and get a new one.
If the mold will not come off in the washing machine then it's not going to come off at all.
Good Luck.
If it has not come out after washing in machine then get down to the shops and pick up a new one!!! :-)
Deluded bleach
.I use a natural stone cream cleaner , you can find this in some off the big stores or in a few hardware stores, it cleans gold , silver well most metals lime scale, window.s ,stainless steal takes dirty marks of walls well it麓s use is never ending. I麓m sure it would remove your mildew . this product is called Perlglanz Putzstein, my niece introduced this to me and it was a very well appreciated finding for me

dilute bleach
Buy a spray bottle from somewhere like Wal-mart, fill it with bleach and spray your curtain. This will kill the mildew and you should be able to wipe it off after that.
Use caution though when spraying the bleach, don't inhale it and don't get it in your eyes or on your skin.
Use a solution of bleach amd water to get rid of it. Rinse it off with a hose or the shower, and then clean with a solution of warm water and fabric conditioner. (Lovely smell)

What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?
which method is better? What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?
Bleach will work, but I always use sodium carbonate (available from the store as Soda Crystals or Soda Ash) for a variety of reasons, not least that NaClO can react with organic matter to form haloalkanes that aren't very good for you or the environment, also chlorine bleach can (when mixed with other cleaning agents) evolve chlorine gas, which isn't good at all!
As stated above, never do this with clothes in the wash! What can kill mildew in Washing Machine ?
a lot of things can kill mildew, but in this case use chlorine bleach the machine was designed for it and it take a relatively low concentration to do the job.
run a cycle with no clothes but just water and bleach. I don't get mildew but my washing machine starts to stink at times, so I do the bleach cycle and the smell goes away.
